The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018 and 2019 DRC implemented aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees.  As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox’s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.

POSITION PROFILE

The Fleet and General Logistics Assistant will support the delivery of safe, efficient and effective transport services for the DRC programme and support staff in Cox’s Bazar and surrounding areas as needed. He/she will also provide general support to the DRC Logistics operation, in particular with inventory management and maintenance of DRC premises.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Support the Logistics Officer to manage the DRC Bangladesh fleet in line with the Operations Handbook.
  • Coordinate transport of authorized passengers on their duties, as well of transportation of materials between project sites. Manage fleet requests and circulate movement plans when required.
  • Support the upkeep of vehicle maintenance and safety, monitoring that vehicles are serviced, roadworthy and contain the appropriate equipment for the context. Undertake weekly vehicle inspections.
  • Help to monitor driver performance to ensure they are operating the vehicles with due regard to the safety of passengers and people outside the vehicles.
  • Help drivers to understand and comply with DRC’s Code of Conduct and Anti-Corruption Policies, as well as local traffic laws and regulations.
  • Monitor the proper use of vehicles by DRC staff, including the wearing of seatbelts.
  • Undertake appropriate record keeping, including log books, maintenance reports, receipts, fuel and monthly fleet reports as required by the Supply Chain Team Leader.
  • Advise the Supply Chain Team leader of any incident and follow standard procedures in case of accident; submit relevant accident reports.
  • Be responsible for driving DRC cars in cases where there is a shortage of drivers.
  • Assist the wider supply chain department in management of General Programme Equipment in line with the Operations Handbook and maintenance of DRC premises in adherence to the relevant policies.
  • The responsibilities listed in this Job Description are not exhaustive and may be readjusted according to operational needs but will remain in line with the overall purpose of the role.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • 1-2 years’ experience in logistics, specifically fleet management.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving experience, with a clean record.
  • Knowledge of car mechanics and maintenance preferred.
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills to deal with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Computer skills in MS Word & Excel.

Strong sense of personal integrity. Education Qualification:

  • Degree- Degree in logistics preferred and/or relevant professional certification.
  • Language – Flunt in English (Required), Fluent in Bangla (Required),
