The Private Fundraising and Partnerships Plan sets out the results and strategies that UNICEF will pursue to maximize resources and leverage the influence of the private sector, defined as the general public, civil society, business and private foundations and other social groups that influence decision-makers. In implementing this Plan, National Committees, UNICEF country offices and headquarters divisions will work together to expand strategic fundraising and engagement with the private sector and advocate to advance child rights. Planning, knowledge-sharing, guidance and internal communications supported by collaborative tools and mechanisms to optimize the implementation and monitoring of the plan and use and exchange of information and experience, are some of the key crosscutting enabling strategies in the Plan. The Strategic Planning, Reporting, Information, Monitoring and Evaluation (PRIME) section plays a central role in providing key information to staff members, National Committees and Country Offices thus enabling them to implement their objectives and the new vision for a UNICEF wide private sector engagement.

How can you make a difference?

Working under the supervision of the Head of the PRIME Section, the consultant will help support projects such as producing guidance for fundraising and partnerships; strategic information content (messages, briefing notes, PPT's); publication of intranet news promoted via a monthly newsletter (articles, interviews); delivery of knowledge management tasks such as capturing and writing case studies related to Business For Results; and supporting the development of the next Situation Analysis and Planning process.

MAIN TASKS:

  1. Support project management for the annual learning event, Virtual Skill Share (VSS):
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather content in a timely and structured manner
  • Be the focal point for participating offices' focal points on the delivery of the event and co-manage the VSS yammer group
  • Support the overall co-ordination of the Virtual Skill Share as required
  • Support the production and finalization of content in necessary formats for this online event
  1. Support internal communication and produce strategic information content:
  • Help draft messages to all staff and different internal audiences
  • Support communication activities before, during and after the annual learning event
  • Produce news and other articles for the intranet
  • Conduct interviews with UNICEF and National Committee colleagues to gather content
  • Provide communication and production support for priority projects and initiatives
  • Support the creation of briefing notes (gather information, write summaries, edit texts)
  • Help produce power point presentations
  • Provide support in the organization of brown bag lunches (posters, invitation, logistics, etc)
  • Support the uptake of online tools such as Yammer within PFP
  1. Support knowledge management:
  • Help gather and write case studies capturing partnerships with business for 'Business for Results'
  • Support documentation of such case studies in a dedicated repository
  • Conduct case studies to support organizational learning as required
  • Support content gathering to maintain updated versions of Policy, Programme and Procedure (PPPx) Guidelines for the organization on behalf of PFP
  1. Support the development of the next private sector Situation Analysis
  • Coordinate inputs and conduct elements of data collection and analysis

DELIVERABLES:

  • Project management support for the annual learning event, the Virtual Skill Share
  • 2 newsletter articles per month and agendas for monthly all staff meetings
  • Gather and write 6 case studies related to UNICEF's work with Private Sector
  • Update and gather content for PFP's contribution to UNICEF's Policy, Programme and Procedure guidance (review of 20 PPPX topic pages)
  • Gather and analyze inputs for the Private Sector Sitan and produce documents and PowerPoints

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL :

11.5 months. Candidates not available to start latest 9 March will not be considered.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

  • At least three years' experience in International Development, preferably related to private sector fundraising and engagement.
  • First level university degree in journalism, marketing, public relations or any other related discipline.
  • Master's degree in international affairs, political science, communications or any other related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English; fluency in other UN languages would be an asset.
  • Experience in internal communications would be an asset.
  • Experience in gathering and writing case studies would be an asset.
  • Experience in the use of Office 365 products.
  • Ability to work independently and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience of working within UNICEF or other UN entities, familiarity with the work of UNICEF National Committees and/or private sector fundraising would be an asset.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficient in writing for the web and intranet editorial experience
  • Experience in dealing with a complex information architecture
  • Knowledge of user experience

Technologies:

  • Advanced use and knowledge of SharePoint 2013 Online
  • Proficient in Yammer
  • Expertise in Office 365 offering
