The main objective of this consultation is to assist on the finalization of an implementation research on patient safety in a defined sample of hospitals from different affiliations.


Background


This consultation refers to the implementation of a research on patient safety.

Previous work included the development of the research protocol, the organization of 2 workshops on patient safety implementation research. Data have been collected and entered.

The current consultation aims to complete & finalize the results and analysis, as well as publication of the research findings and development of an action plan based on the recommended strategies and interventions to scale up the safety of healthcare services.

Planned timelines (One year subject to confirmation and availability of funds)

Start date\: 16 February 2020

End date\: 15 February 2021
Work to be performed

Output 1\: Finalized Report on national research study on adverse events from the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Output 2\: Report on the pilot implementation of the action framework on patient safety and quality in extreme adversity.

Deliverables

To achieve the above objectives, the consultant will be contracted with the following deliverables\:

Deliverable 1.1\: To coordinate the validation of the research findings.

Deliverable 1.2\: Provide technical input to the finalization of the final report of the research.

Deliverable 1.3\: To prepare Related policy briefs and advocacy material related to the findings and recommendations from the research results.

Deliverable 2.1\: Conduct visit for the validation of the action framework on Quality and Safety in Fragile Conflict and violent settings.

Deliverable 2.2\: finalize the findings of the survey on the service priorities for Quality and Safety in FCV settings.

Required Qualifications
Education

University degree in Medicine, Health Management Sciences or related field

Desirable\: Master’s degree in public health or Diploma in Biostatistics

Experience

At least 2 years’ experience of field work in the area of Healthcare delivery and research.

Skills / knowledge

  • Technical knowledge in quality of Care and Patient Safety & Biostatistics.

  • Knowledge of data management and writing skills.

Language
  • The candidate should be proficient in English & Arabic

  • Knowledge of French would be an asset.
Location

WHO Regional office of the Eastern Mediterranean in Cairo, Egypt.


Travel (If travel is involved, a medical certificate of fitness for work will be required.)

The Consultant may be expected to travel but the itinerary will be discussed and agreed with the consultant.

All travel arrangements will be made by WHO – WHO will not be responsible for tickets purchased by the Consultant without the express, prior authorization of WHO. While on mission under the terms of this consultancy, the Consultant will receive subsistence allowance.

Visas requirements\: it is the consultant’s responsibility to fulfil visa requirements and ask for visa support letter(s) if needed.
