STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of Secondary School, a post secundary certificate on a funtional area is desireble. A degree in Logistics and Warehouse Management, Procurement and Logistics or related field is an added advantage.

Experience: Experience working in commercial or humanitarian transportation or warehousing  sectors and corporate systems (databases or Microsoft software) with a minimun uderstanding of suply chain operations is required.

Language: Fluency in Portuguese and basic Knowledge of English.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Following the March and April 2019 cyclone Idai and Kenneth that devasted vast areas of Sofala, Manica, Zambezia and cabo Delgado provinces, WFP operations in those provinces increased in response. Recovery response operations are still underway and expected to continue for most of the first half of 2020. Therefore the need for Logistics Assistant to support these activities.

At this level, under the direct supervison of the head of Sub-office or delegated authority, the Logistics Assistant will provide support to Logistic operations and activities

JOB PURPOSE

To implement well-defined standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Plan and manage implementation of innovative supply chain operations, initiatives and services to ensure timely, cost-effective call-forward and delivey of commodities to authorized partners.
  2. Provide technical advice and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation initiatives analyzing best practices from the humanitarian and private sector.
  3. Support the management of logistics vendors, including performance monitoring
  4. Build productive partnerships and collaborate with counterparts in the key supply chain functions to ensure an integrated supply chain approach to food assistance and cross-functional operational alignment.
  5. Identify and build productive partnerships with counterparts amongst government and other national organizations, UN agencies, NGOs and private sector to share operational knowledge and resources and build capacity to ensure coordinated and cost-effective supply chain operations.
  6. Assist in monitoring the invnetory management process to track trends and account for the inventory status from the source to the beneficiary.
  7. Assist inmanagement of commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
  8. Implement all loss mitigation procedures in place and report on all loses incurred.
  9. Work closely with Program teams on delivery plans and delivery versus distribuion reconciliations
  10. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operation management
  11. Provide guidelines to other support staff, in order to assist them in completeing their tasks to agreed standards and deadlines

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

Experience using corporate systems to monitor ongoing shipments, pipeline information, insurance claims, and food stock.
• Experience analysing data (on commodities, funds, etc.) and drafting reports.
• Experience in measuring service providers’ performance against set KPIs.
• Experience in assisting the preparation of contract documentation.
• Experience in providing technical business support in corporate systems.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The duration of the contract is 6 months.
