STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of Secondary School, a post secundary certificate on a funtional area is desireble. A degree in Logistics and Warehouse Management, Procurement and Logistics or related field is an added advantage.

Experience: 2 years of professional experience working in commercial or humanitarian transportation or warehousing  sectors and corporate systems (databases or Microsoft software) with a minimun uderstanding of suply chain operations is required.

Language: Fluency in Portuguese and basic Knowledge of English.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Following the March and April 2019 Idai and kenneth Cyclones that devasted vast areas of Sofala, Manica, Zambezia, Nampula and Cabo Delgado provinces, WFP operations in those provinces increased in response. Recovery response operations are still underway and expected to continue for most of the first half of 2020. Therefore the need for a Logistics Associate to guide these activities.

Under direct supervison of the head of Sub-office, the Logistics Associate will co-manage and act as focal point for all logistics activities in province.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide specialized support functions and/or supervise staff performing standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Provide specialized support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  2. Support gathering market intelligence, vendor assessments (e.g. transporters, retailers)to support vendor selection process.
  3. Identify,resolve and/or provide recommendations on specialised queries/requests for support, using initiative and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of enquiries with excellent client service mind-set.
  4. Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for the inventory status from source to beneficiary.
  5. Act as linkage between CO Supply Chain unit and the Porgram unit at the sub-office
  6. Analyse operational pipeline and contribute to assessments and operational planning for all delivery modalities, to ensure that supply chain requirements are taken into consideration.
  7. Ensure that Weekly and Monthly physical inventory at all warehouses under your jurisdition are performed in line with standard procedures
  8. Ensure that coorporate system stocks are always in line with the physical stocks. Ensure information accuracy in corporate systems to enable informed decision-making.
  9. Supervise the work of support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to ensure individual and team objectives are delivered to agreed standards and deadlines for all assistance modalities.
  10. Support logistics emergency preparedness and response activities including Logistics Capacity Assessment and Contingency Plan update, to support WFP’s response in emergencies.Provide support to Logistics operation and activities, follwing the standards processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

• Experience maintaining corporate systems and running queries on ongoing shipments, pipeline information, insurance claims, and food stock.
• Experience in administering third party service providers’ contracts.
• Experience in compiling contract documentation.
• Experience in contract execution.
• Experience in budget monitoring and reporting.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The duration of the contract is for 6 months.
