ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The job holders typically report to a Programme Policy Officer or the designate.
At this level, job holders are responsible for the completion of a range of specialized and/or standardized processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines and practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff. They work under minimum supervision, perform basic analyses and compile reports to support information consistency and smooth implementation of programmes/projects.

JOB PURPOSE

To perform specialized and/or standardized policy and programme-related processes and activities to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.  

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Support the VAM unit in the development of food security, market and vulnerability analysis.
  2. Assist in coordinating VAM data collection, cleaning and analysis activities ensuring data completeness, timeliness and quality.
  3. Maintain, update, and improve existing databases and knowledge management platforms (Dataviz, Kobo, COMET, etc.)
  4. Perform statistical tests using advanced statistical methods (descriptive and interferential statistics, regression analysis, multivariate data analysis, etc.) to support the analysis of household food security and vulnerability data.
  5. Prepare periodic reports and analysis to inform units and Field Offices on data entry needs.
  6. Support the production of newsletters and periodic reports on the food security and market price trends.
  7. Programme questionnaires for all VAM data collections.
  8. Maintain mobile data collection devices and train relevant partner and WFP field monitoring staff on its usage.
  9. Provide capacity strengthening and targeted trainings on database management and good practices around data analysis to external partner staff and internally.
  10. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
  11. Perform other related duties as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.

Experience: A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic and English.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
    • Strong background in data analysis and statistical methods
    • Proficiency with WFP corporate data collection, analysis and visualization tools (ODK, Kobo, ONA, SPSS, R, Stata, Tableau)
    • Proficiency in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data relating to food security, nutrition, market and vulnerability.
    • Good knowledge of WFP’s Normative Framework for M&E and food security and nutrition indicators is preferred. Sound knowledge of statistical theory and methods related to sampling, questionnaire design, data analysis and cleaning
    • Experience in coordination and capacity strengthening of government counterparts and/or other partners
    • Experience in drafting high-quality food security and nutrition reports based on analytical findings
