Organizational Setting

FAO Lebanon implements different projects under the umbrella of its Country Programming Framework. In order to reinforce its Operations Unit, FAO Lebanon is looking for a National Operations Assistant. The assistant will work mainly on the project “Improved Water Resources Monitoring System/IWRM at regional level in Lebanon”, funded by Switzerland and the project “Rehabilitation and waste management of El-Bared Canal Irrigation System”, funded by Norway and both implemented together with the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Water Establishment in North Lebanon. In addition, the assistant will support other field projects implemented by FAO Lebanon.

Reporting Lines

The National Operations Assistant is under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Lebanon, under the direct supervision of the project manager, and the technical supervision of the International Operations Specialist and the Assistant FAOR Programmes. She/he will work in close collaboration with other international and national consultants, and in cooperation with national teams and counterparts

Technical Focus

The role of the National Operations Assistant is to ensure effective operations and implementation of projects.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Assist in the daily operation of the field projects assigned;
  • Provide secretarial support to project task force meetings;
  • Assist project managers in timely provision of inputs for personnel, technical support services, sub-contracts, training, equipment/supplies and other needs related to project operations;
  • Assist in the preparation of project work plans, monitors progress and, where, necessary, identifies corrective measures to overcome operational constraints;
  • Assist with the management of the project budget and prepares revisions as required;
  • Coordinate the timely preparation and submission of project progress and terminal reports required (as specified in the project agreements), as well as contributing to the preparation of analytical reports on the Representation’s portfolio as a whole;
  • Assist in the timely field project completion/closure, including identification of project follow-up requirements;
  • Contribute to the preparation and/or assessment of new projects;
  • Ensure the quality of data/documentation in the Field Programme Management Information System (FPMIS) for all pipeline and operational field projects in the country.



CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Administration, Economics, Public Administration or commerce or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in administrative, accounting and/ or procurement support work,
  • Working knowledge (Level C) of English and Arabic
  • National of Lebanon

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Good knowledge of FAO's administrative policies and procedures
  • Previous UN experience in this field would be a plus.
