Job Description

The Caseworker provides direct support to the resettlement team to facilitate the resettlement of newly arrived refugees. The caseworker will ensure that all clients receive high quality resettlement services in accordance with government contracts and IRC internal policies and procedures. This position is for 3 days/week.

Essential Job Functions:

Case Management

  • Maintain a reduced refugee resettlement caseload; ensure core services under the Reception and Placement (R&P) program are completed and documented;

  • Conduct comprehensive intake and assessment for designated families and develop plans in partnerships with families to meet their resettlement needs;

  • With the client’s participation, complete a resettlement plan that addresses service delivery approaches and specific timelines for service completion;

  • Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date case-note services log containing detailed information about service provision;

  • Maintain copies of all appropriate documents, referral letters, forms and other data in client case files

  • Assess and monitor client progress at regular intervals to ensure progress on goals is made; ensure designated resources are maximized; modify initial resettlement plans and other case file documents as required.

  • Ensure compliance with case file management and reporting requirements, including timely data entry in hard-copy files and databases.

  • Travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits etc.).


Qualifications

  • Two years of combined job related training and experience in case management, social services or social work.

  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability in Spanish or Dari is desired.

  • Detail oriented with the proven ability to meet deadlines; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); Ability to work in a fast-paced and multicultural setting.

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout central Silver Spring (escorting clients and other activities related to client resettlement needs).

Working Environment:

  • Willingness to occasionally provide services outside of normal work hours (evenings and weekends).
