Job Description
Background/IRC Summary: Since 1999, the IRC has developed partnerships with New York City public schools, community-based organizations and local colleges and universities to support the positive development of refugee youth and their communities in New York City. The Education and Learning Program provides year round programming working directly with refugee youth, their parents and families, and their schools. Job Overview/Summary: The Refugee Youth Summer Academy (RYSA) is a six-week program focusing on preparing newly arrived refugee youth to succeed at their grade level in the New York City public school system. Up to 130 students ages 5 – 21 from over 20 countries will participate in academic, creative arts, physical education, and social emotional learning classes. Field Trips are held on Fridays. The Operations Associate will work closely with the Dean of Operations to ensure the smooth daily operation of the Refugee Youth Summer Academy.The Operations Associate will provide administrative and logistical support related to special events, arrival and dismissal, attendance, student transportation, and meals. Position Term: June 15 – August 14, 2020 Hours: 18 hours/week prior to the program, Full time (7.5 hours/day) June 30; July 1, 2; July 6 – August 14, 2020 Major Responsibilities: Key Working Relationships: Position Reports to:Dean of Operations, Tiffany Parra Indirect Reporting: Youth Programs Supervisor, Patrick Curran
