THE POSITION

To prevent violent extremism, IDLO will support a pilot program to Quranic schools aimed at teaching students but not limited to; critical thinking skills, the dangers of joining extremist groups, how to identify early signs of radicalization activities and processes.

IDLO is looking for a Monitoring and Evaluation position for short term consultant to design M&E tools and conduct base-line, mid-line and end-line surveys to assess the perception change of students who participate in the pilot program. With the ultimate goal of the program being to enhance the awareness of the effects of violent extremism among the students.

TIMEFRAME AND RENUMERATION:

The position is for a period of 13 days. The daily rate provided is $100 USD.

Deliverables

The M&E Consultant will be expected to deliver the following:

  • Design M&E tools for program assessment;
  • Conduct baseline, mid-line and end-line surveys;
  • Present outcome of the survey and report. 

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILES

Education and Work Experience

  • Have expertise in M&E;
  • Excellent knowledge of M&E tools design and assessment;
  • Excellent knowledge for data collection methods, analyzing and reporting 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in working in a conflict setting;
  • Previous experience of working in Somalia is mandatory.

Language skills

  • Fluent oral and writing skills in English and Somali is required.

Specific Technical skills and competencies

  • Ability to design M&E tools including surveys;
  • Highly organized and problem-solving skills;
  • Very good knowledge of the Somalia context;
  • Proficient in utilizing standard industry technology, including Microsoft Office and related software.

Behavioral competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude in building partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders and driving results, including at the senior level;
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, flexibility and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to respond timely to queries and provide feedback;
  • Self-motivated and dynamic with a willingness and ability to use initiative to assist the organization to achieve its objectives;
  • Keen sense of ethics, integrity and commitment to IDLO's mandate

Candidates should prove their ability to work and travel in Somalia.
