Job Description

The Video Intern will help the video unit with production, post-production and distribution of the IRC s video content. The candidate will work on one video project (TBD) that they will be able to use for their production reels. In addition to prepping and logging footage, the candidate will do internal video shoots (at HQ huddles/meetings), post-production and digital asset management. There may also be opportunities to act as production assistant, camera assistant and/or cameraperson on videos that are filmed in the New York area. The position will report to the Associate Video Producer.

COMMITMENT: 3-4 months starting in June 2020, 16-24 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on a single video project (TBD) that will be published on the IRC’s intranet.

  • Production: Assist with physical tasks. This includes carrying equipment, helping to set up lights/ audio equipment, and shooting internal (posted on intranet) and possibly external-facing videos (published on our social media channels).

  • Post production: Organize and convert footage for editing. Cut and upload broll packages to Brandfolder. Learn our taxonomy for the archive. Manage footage backups. Assemble clips in Adobe Premiere. Help producers and editors develop stories. Edit videos for internal and possibly external audiences. Transcribe finished videos for distribution.

Qualifications

  • Student enrolled in a film, communications of journalism program or proven interest in same.
  • Detail-oriented, organized and reliable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in physical activity on film shoots.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere/CC Applications.
  • Shooting experience helpful but not required.
  • Dedication to the IRC’s mission.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous internship experiences are preferred but not required.

This is an unpaid internship position. No financial compensation, including compensation for relocation, is available.
