BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Domestically, our 25 offices across the U.S. ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.

SCOPE OF INTERN WORK:
 
Provide financial documentation and tracking for programs that benefit refugees and special immigrants

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establish and maintain an efficient filing system for the Finance Team
• Provide support to create and maintain reports to a variety of local and state agencies
• Act as information source in the absence of the Finance Coordinator
• Maintain positive working relationship with all those contacted in the course of the day’s activities including outside agencies
• Verify the accuracy of financial and statistical reports and records
• Help the Finance team provide monthly reports to various counties throughout Northern California


REQUIREMENTS:
• At least two semesters of college-level accounting courses
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work under pressure
This position reports to the Finance Coordinator• This is an unpaid internship requiring a minimum of four months
• Work-related driving is eligible for reimbursement at the IRS Charitable Rate
• Internships are available for undergraduate students starting in their second year, as well as graduate students, and those who have graduated from college within the past two years. Course credit is available if the student coordinates with their university and confirms the appropriate paperwork with the Volunteer Coordinator.
