The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Jordan Country Office in Amman seeks a dedicated, experienced, highly motivated and proactive candidates to work on the Piloting and Capacity Building on the Revised Better Parenting Programme in Jordan.

Background: 

The Better Parenting Programme (BPP) was initiated in 1996 as part of a multi-country initiative, following results from a national Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices Survey which found significant knowledge gaps among parents on how to effectively promote positive child development. Given that most pre-school aged children are cared for in the home and do not attend formal early childhood education services, the goal of the BPP was to empower parents to provide a nurturing, stimulating, and protective environment at home. Development and testing of the BPP have gone through several phases, starting with a pilot initiative in 1996 to adapt global UNICEF child development resources to the Jordanian context. Following the piloting phase and based on continuous feedback collected through the field testing, the resources were revised and training manuals on key child development topics were developed by UNICEF.

Objective: 

The overall objectives of the assignment are to:

  1. Pilot Better Parenting Programme manuals for 0-9 and adolescents.
  2. Design and delivery of Train-the-Trainer module.
  3. Ensure quality cascade training and programme implementation through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring.

One accelerated training efficiently delivered for selected facilitators and supervisors in new BPP. *UNICEF will be responsible for the identification of 4 facilitators whom have been familiarized with the new BPP manuals.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree in social science field is required. A degree in childhood development, phycology, or education is highly desirable/an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in capacity building, training, programme design, programme evaluation in childhood and/or protection related areas is required. Proven relevant experience in ECD and adolescents is highly desirable/an asset.
  • Relevant experience in programme development/capacity building/programme evaluation in parenting support programmes, child protection, ECD and related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in Arabic is required. Knowledge of English is highly desirable.
  • Have the ability to conduct field visits in the different regions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to successfully and effectively liaise with people in a wide range of functions.
