Overview of position
The consultants will be responsible for the support and implementation of COVID 19 response & preparedness related activities in the geographic area of concern.
 
Role objectives
The Medical Equipment Specialist is expected to review medical equipment technical specifications, evaluate medical procurement activities, as well as supervise the installation of Medical equipment in the designated areas.

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Project Manager, the consultant will execute the following tasks:
  • Draft the technical specifications of the needed Medical Equipment;
  • Review Medical Equipment technical specifications provided by the end beneficiaries;
  • Evaluate procurement activities related to Medical Equipment provisions
  • Execute field visits to supervise the installation of Medical equipment, and ensure that the equipment are delivered as per the approved technical specifications.

Key competencies Education:
- University degree in Biomedical Engineering or Public Health or a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of four years of experience

Experience;

- Operational and field experience in outbreak preparedness and response, in public health, epidemiology, and risk communication interventions;
- Knowledge of Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) measures for outbreak response and preparedness.
- Operational and field experience in migration, refugee and displaced persons’ health-related issues, programme development, including experience in evaluating health programs and protocols;
- Knowledge of structures and functions of national and international health agencies, donors and organizations;
- Familiarity with the health sector in the African region, with Somalia experience an advantage
