Organizational Setting

The FAO Representation in Cambodia is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing country food, agriculture and rural development priorities. It develops and maintains relations with country-wide institutions including Government Institutions and Development Partners. FAO has been requested to provide technical assistance to the government’s CAPFISH-Capture work plan in the form of an EU Capacity Support project GCP/CMB/043/EC. The FAO-CapFish Technical Assistance project supports the Fisheries conservation and management pillar within the CAPFISH-Capture Fisheries Programme. Technical support for institutional and capacity enhancement on gender-sensitive fisheries management and conservation project (TCP/CMB/3705) complements FAO-CapFish TA project by supporting gender and child labour assessments and the development of a gender action plan for FAO-CapFish TA, as well as institutional analysis of data collection system(s) that would be used as basis/input for improving fisheries management and conservation in Cambodia.

Technical Focus

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Cambodia, and under the direct supervision of Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) in close collaboration with the International Consultant on Fisheries Management Information System, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks\:

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Support the analysis of the current fisheries management information system in Cambodia for marine and inland fisheries
  • Provide support and facilitate a series of consultations with staff involved in the fisheries management information system at different levels and different locations to understand their roles, responsibilities, perspectives, challenges and needs
  • Identify the challenges, barriers, gaps and opportunities in the current fisheries management information system
  • Collect secondary information, documents and other information needed for the analysis
  • Arrange and facilitate meetings and group discussions required for the analysis
  • Contribute to the development of recommendations on how the fisheries management information system can effectively support fisheries management and decision-making
  • Contribute to the preparation of a draft report of the findings of the analysis
  • Contribute to the organization of the stakeholder workshop, prepare a list of participants and the meeting invitation
  • Present the findings of the analysis in the stakeholder workshop
  • Finalize the report taking into consideration feedback and comments during the stakeholder workshop.
  • Undertake other tasks as required by FAO in order to achieve the above activities 1-9.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • Advanced University degree in fisheries, natural resource management or related field
  • Five years of relevant experience in fisheries or natural resources management information system.
  • Working knowledge of English.
  • National of Cambodia.
