Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is looking for a finance officer who will support the H2H Network and its funding mechanism for network members. This is a part-time position for six months, with possibility of extension.

The H2H Network, which stands for ‘humanitarian-to-humanitarian’ network, consists of approximately 50 organisations that provide high-quality and integrated services to support other humanitarian responders. Network members address cross-cutting issues to help the overall response be more effective, of higher quality, and more efficient. Services on offer include data and information, community engagement and accountability, quality and professionalization of the sector, and logistics and security risk management.

The H2H Network is supported by UK aid from the UK government and provides its members with tools, support and funding, through the H2H Fund, to help them quickly activate in an emergency.

 

About the job

The position will be part-time, and based in Geneva, Switzerland, although there is a possibility for the role to be carried out remotely for the time being due to the current situation. The post holder will work closely with the H2H Network core team and DRC Compliance Manager to ensure the financial compliance in sub granting and financial reporting to the network’s donor. The postion reports to the H2H Coordinator.

The priority duties are:

  • Support and act as chief liaison with network members in all financial issues regarding sub-granting, including (but not limited to) due diligence, grant administration, financial rules, reporting, and audits.
  • Support the undertaking of due diligence assessments of network members.
  • Review contribute to and quality approve budgets and financial reports submitted by the members receiving sub grants.
  • Liaise with DRC head offices to ensure projects are in line with existing policies.
  • Work with network members and DRC to ensure funds are disbursed in a timely manner and in line with DRC and DFID due diligence requirements.
  • Ensure member reporting on admin/finance meets requirements.

 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to be a structured team player who will secure quality and compliant financial performance of the H2H Network members receiving funding from the platform.

Required

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in finance, economics, external and internal audit.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience from a humanitarian/development organisation and/or from a donor administration
  • Prior experience with managing sub-grant agreements is preferred. Experience with DFID and large international foundations is an advantage.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A conscientious and structured person with strong planning skills, including computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)

We offer

Contract length: 6 months (April 2020 – October 2020). Time commitment is 20 hours per week (55%).

The position is placed in Geneva, Switzerland. The selected candidate will be offered a part-time, fixed-term national contract with an approximate gross salary at 55% of 2’500 CHF. Following Swiss regulations DRC offers accident and travel insurance for all Geneva based staff. All staff have to pay tax, social security and pension contributions according to Swiss law. All staff are obliged by Swiss law to have a valid Swiss health insurance (not covered by DRC).
