Organizational Setting

The Regional Office for RNE is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO’s priority activities in the region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the Region and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at Headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO's strategic response to regional priorities. RNE also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organization’s Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies. RNE develops and maintains relations with region-wide institutions including the Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs).

The Regional Office supports regional policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates the emergence of regional partnerships, and supports capacity development and resource mobilization for food security, agriculture and rural development in the region.

The post is located in the RNE, Cairo

Reporting Lines

Under the overall guidance of Senior Administrative Officer, the direct supervision of the National Professional Officer (Administration) and in close cooperation with all RNE administrative and substantive units.

Technical Focus

Provides support to all RNE/FAO units to maintain an efficient and effective office environment.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Assist in ADG and DRR office tasks required including photocopying of documents, filing, delivering signature files and internal documents to other staff members, dispatching internal and external documents to the respective staff.
  • Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail from the registry focal staff on daily basis.
  • Monitor the use of equipment and supplies within the office.
  • Assist staff with a wide range of office duties including going to the bank, assists with the planning, organization and implementation of events, meetings, conferences and workshops, prepare outgoing mail/documentations for distribution
  • Prepare the meeting rooms located on the Executive floor prior to each meeting and follow up with any actions required by Housekeeping, IT, Admin or Maintenance team.
  • Receive visitors at the front desk and direct them appropriately.
  • Provide information to visitors by answering or referring inquiries.
  • Comply with FAO procedures, rules, and regulations and keeps a safe and clean reception area.
  • Perform other duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of English and Arabic
  • National of Egypt or resident with a work permit.
