MEDICAL OFFICER / INTENSIVE CARE PHYSICIAN DURING AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE OUTBREAK

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within delegated authority, the Medical Officer will be responsible for the following clinical duties:

  • Case evaluation and early supportive management of UN staff needing hospitalization for COVID-19;
  • Collaboration in the transport of cases to the isolation ward and in the MEDEVAC of UN staff to appropriate facilities;
  • Overall supervision, management, coordination clinical operations of the Isolation ward during the outbreak/pandemic;
  • Follow up and tracking of the positive cases and direct contacts;
  • Follow-up and report on status of patient with related UN agency;
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Doctoral degree Education - Additional Comments:

Doctorate (MD) or equivalent in medicine, including residency/internship in one of the medical specialties, preferably ICU, internal medicine with relevant experience in emergency room.

Required experience: 36 Months Experience remark: Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Area of expertise: General human medicine (with clinical experience) Area of expertise details:

  • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible clinical experience in emergency medicine. Proven experience of a minimum of six month at an ICU in the past 5 years is highly desirable.
