Job Description

SCOPE OF WORK:

Under the supervision of the Casework Supervisor, the Case Aide will support the social well-being and economic self-sufficiency of refugees arriving from Nauru and Papua New Guinea (NRPP). The Case Aide will assess clients’ needs, assisting in the development and implementation of service plans, recommending and obtaining services, and gathering information necessary in obtaining services appropriate to their identified needs. This is a statewide position based in Silver Spring.Some travel between the Baltimore and Silver Spring office will be necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide extended comprehensive case management services to clients arriving from Nauru and Papua New Guinea that require additional assistance;
  • Connect clients to resources available in-house or in the community; identify new resources and/or partners that offer support, ease transition, and facilitate successful integration;
  • Provide orientations while supporting clients through social service referrals, medical access, and advocacy services through robust assessment and evaluation of each client’s distinct needs;
  • Independently develop reasonable resettlement and/or self-sufficiency plans and timelines for each client and guide client expectations;
  • Assess and monitor client progress at regular intervals to ensure progress on goals is made, designated resources are maximized, and modify initial resettlement plans and other case file documents as required;
  • Regular travel, including nights and weekends, throughout service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits, airport pick-ups, etc.) will be required;
  • Ensure strict compliance with case file management and reporting requirements, including timely data entry in hard-copy files and databases; maintain confidentiality of client information;
  • Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a contributing member of the team;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma strongly preferred.
  • Two years of combined job related training and experience in case management, social services or social work.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability in Pashto or Dari is desired.
  • Detail oriented with the proven ability to meet deadlines; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); Ability to work in a fast-paced and multicultural setting.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout central Silver Spring.

Working Environment:Standard office work environment and occasional work in the local community, such as in schools and client homes.  Occasional need for work outside of traditional business hours.
