The WFP Zimbabwe Country Office is now in its third year of implementing its 5-year Country Strategic Plan (2017 – 2021). While maintaining its strong humanitarian assistance capacity, WFP is focusing on supporting long-term social protection and resilience-building activities to achieve Zero Hunger.
Found in Masvingo Field Office, the job holder reports to the Head of Field Office or Programme Policy Officer or Programme Associate.
The Monitoring Assistant will coordinate and monitor implementation of all WFP Zimbabwe Country Strategic Plan (CSP) within a specified area under the Harare Field Office. The incumbent is expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities related to monitoring that require some interpretation of standard guidelines/practices and be able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels. The Monitoring Assistant is required to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen operational problems daily.

Collection, consolidation and submission of primary and secondary data as applicable in line with the CSP monitoring and evaluation framework
Timeous submission of informative and good quality field trip reports and monthly monitoring reports to Programme Associate for review and subsequent submission
Engagagement and advising of CPs for timeous implementation of activities and submission and of required documents such as donor briefs, reports and before and after programme pictures
Sound professional working relations with stakeholders, partners and counterparts in assigned area of operation, work station and country office as applicable
Good communication at all levels and ability to ability to implement, under guidance, food assistance programmes deploying the full range of transfer modalities with an understanding of basic principles guiding modality selection and implementation
Understand and apply basic principles and policies related to WFP programming with government counterparts and partners in areas of operation
Draft Monthly Monitoring Report
Coordinating FFA activities at FO level in liaison with the FO Management and Activity Manager as assigned
Coordinating Water Source Development Project Coordination at FO level
Regularly inspect WFP/ CP EDPs to ensure proper storage of commodities and accountability, documentation of findings shared with Logistics to provide support where needed.
Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Completion of a post-secondary qualification in the related functional area. A degree in in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Agricultural Sciences, Public Health/Nutrition, Geography or other related field will be a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of food security and livelihood assessment conceptual frameworks.
At least 5 years experience in basic food security and market analisis and reporting.
Must have training and/or experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages
Language: Fluency (level C) in English language and Shona and or \ndebele.
Sound judgement, ability to extract, interpret, analyse and format data and to resolve operational problems. Ability to work with minimum supervision, and to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds

Field experience is essential Has experience in collecting programme output and outcome data, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, and reporting findings to management team, partners and other stakeholders Previous experience utilising WFP monitoring and evaluation systems and standards is an advantage. Has worked with technical teams (i.e Nutrition, M & E, VAM, etc) Has contributed to implementation of programmes. Has observed or assisted with policy discussions Good internal and external stakeholder engagement. Timely submission of followed up community feedback issues as per WFP accountability guidelines. Good computer skills, including work processing, spread sheets and other software packages Time management and ability to prioritise. Good reporting and communication skills. |
