Donor Care:

Support responding to donor emails on Salesforce in a timely and effective manner.
Help ensure an accurate and up to date donor database is maintained at all times.
Assist in responding to donors in a timely manner.
Keep abreast with upcoming emergencies and assist in creating content to be shared with donors such as news updates on emergencies.
Assist in collecting email assets ¿ including images, statistics, and human interest stories relevant to specific emergencies/email asks in accordance to the content calendar.
Assist in analysing email performances and provide input on how to grow/maintain donor numbers.

Social Media:

Assist in co-creating engaging weekly content calendar.
Support the moderation of online forums and discussions while driving traffic to our donate landing pages.
Assist in responding to questions/comments on social media.
Assist in populating bi-weekly online engagement reports and track performance against media spends.
Support and assist with any other tasks and duties assigned from time to time

Eligibility:

Be a recent graduate (within one year of completion of their studies) or current & have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in Journalism, Communications or a related field.

Qualifications:

Have strong organizational skills and able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent writing and editing skills with fluency in English. Knowledge in French is a plus. 
Have good computer skills and be able to learn quickly on using new applications. Prior exposure to using Salesforce is a plus. 
Strong understanding of Excel and ability to comfortably use Excel to generate analytics.
Have excellent research and organizational skills.
Knowledge and solid understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. Please also note that English is essential for this Job Opening. Status of the intern and insurance

Interns are neither staff members under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations, nor officials within the meaning of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations of 13 February 1946, as interns are not remunerated for their work. As of 1 June 2018, interns that do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive a monthly Food and Local Transportation Allowance equivalent.

Interns may not represent UNHCR in any official capacity.

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or his/her sponsoring institution. However, UNHCR will help with the visa application if applicable and advise accordingly.

Interns are not subject to UN security evacuation procedures but may be assisted to leave the country when possible and to the extent feasible.

Interns are fully responsible for arranging medical insurance covering their full internship period. Interns will be requested to show proof of valid medical (and life/accident) insurance for the duty station. It must include adequate coverage in the event of an injury or illness during the internship. UNHCR accepts no responsibility for the medical and life insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during an internship. As interns are not covered under any insurance, they should not travel to hazardous locations in the course of their internship with UNHCR.

Interns will not engage in any activity that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of UNHCR.

Interns will maintain confidentiality of all unpublished information made known to them during the internship and will not publish any reports on the basis of information obtained during the period without prior written permission of UNHCR.

The internship will be placed with UNHCRs Private Sector Partnerships Africa team, which sits within the Department of External Relations (DER) and will report to the PSP Africa Regional Communication Officer.

Objective
The objective of the PSP Africa internship is to provide a unique opportunity for the selected candidate to gain experience in communication, marketing and fundraising as well as experience working within the UN system.
