Organisational context

UNHCR is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a
better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. Every year,
millions of men, women and children are forced to flee their homes to escape conflict and
persecution. We are in over 125 countries, using our expertise to protect and care for millions.
UNHCR is almost entirely funded by voluntary contributions from governments and private
donors. In 2018, UNHCR needed more $7b for its global work. This amount is set to grow with
current conflicts fueling displacement.

UNHCR's Private Sector Partnership Service (PSP) supports the Agency's global collaboration
with the private sector through 30 operations in the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific (APAC),
Africa and the Middle East and Gulf region. The Partnerships & Philanthropy Section (PPH)
within (PSP) is responsible for engaging with corporations, foundations and private
philanthropists. The PPH Section works to establish long-term private partnerships and
strengthen existing relations to fund the immediate and long-term goals of UNHCR.

The position

The overall purpose of this assignment is to have additional writing capacity within the
Partnership Support Unit (PSU) within PPH/PSP based in Copenhagen. The incumbent would

have enough capacity within the team to handle multiple and urgent requests simultaneously,
with a skilled and experienced writer with fundraising experience.

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit (Partnerships Support Unit), the consultant will
perform the following responsibilities:

- Fundraising proposals, concept notes and reports are timely produced and regularly
updated.
- Specific inputs or tailored content-based fundraising documents are produced according
to donors’ needs and requests.
- Research and write private sector donor proposals and reports for support on key areas of
UNHCR’s work that matches donor’s interests.
- Research and write private sector donor proposals and reports to respond to refugee
emergencies as they arise.
- Write tailored fundraising packs on themes specifically requested from the PSP network.
- Review and consolidate donor reporting needs from across the fundraising network in
conjunction with PSP.
- Support the Partnership Support Unit (PSU), fundraising teams and individuals in Branch
Offices, HQ, divisions and National Fundraising Partners to develop and manage
proposals, training materials and reports.
