This position is in the Information Management Branch in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in New York. OCHA is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts.

OCHA's mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions.

Under the guidance of Information Services Section Chief, this candidate will be part of the Office 365 solution team.  The role of the candidate will be to support existing SharePoint products already deployed and working with different business units to understand, document and translate their requirements in technical solutions using the O365 platform (Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Flow, Power Apps).  Additionally, the candidate will work with the team to identify new business processes where the O365 platform can be leveraged for continuous process improvement.  

Functional Responsibilities

  • Deliver business requirements documents, functional specification documents, implementation plans and status reports for internal clients
  • Collaboration with business owners and end-users to create and update SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, pages, apps,forms and workflows
  • Understand and implement SharePoint site and group site permissions
  • Create new applications using PowerApps and Microsoft Flow
  • Participate in the planning and execution of tasks related to the evaluation of new O365 platform (Flow, PowerApps, Power BI and SharePoint Online) based initiatives
  • Identify new areas and business processes where O365 power platform can be leverages and facilitate continual process improvement
  • Develop, configure and maintain portals, custom solutions, sites, pages, document libraries and lists, including access control and issue resolution
  • Standardize and optimize the ways data is stored and retrieved
  • Create and maintain documentation for developed solutions
  • Provide daily production system support when required
  • Knowledge transfer to internal team members

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related subject
  • Master’s degree in relevant fields may be accepted in lieu of 2 years of the required experience.

Work Experience

  • 2 years of experience as SharePoint site collection administrator and/or Office 365 SharePoint administrator or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of business systems analysis and support experience
  • Strong OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams, Power BI troubleshooting experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technologies, technical and business concepts to multiple audiences
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Demonstrated customer support experience in an operational role.
  • Experience in applying strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent people skills

Languages

  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English is required
  • Fluency in French, Arabic or Spanish is desirable
