Assistant on Municipality-Based Work

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of GBV Program Manager or her designated mandated representative(s), the National UN Volunteer will:

  • Contributes to implementation of GBV programme activities, in particular the Project “Cities free from domestic violence” providing overall support to programme and field consultants;
  • Provides logistical support to programme activities (missions, study tours, trainings, conferences and workshops) including travel arrangements, accommodation, collects supporting documents and organizes the venue, assists in preparation of Terms of Reference (TORs) for project assignments;
  • Drafts and translates letters, meeting minutes and other documents necessary for programme management, provides help with preparation of the presentations as may be assigned by office management;
  • Facilitates Individual Consultants recruitment processes, collects the documentation required for the hiring and contract extension and other related procurement actions;
  • Assists with programme procurement and planning, ensures procurement is conducted in accordance with UNFPA Procurement Procedures;
  • Collects, registers and maintains information on field activities, and contributes to the preparation of the progress reports;
  • Assists in producing media materials for placement in UNFPA social media and website;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in public administration, communication, sociology, political and social sciences or related fields;

Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
  • Excellent self-organization and proactive attitude to work;
  • Good research and analytical skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload;
  • Good interpersonal, networking, presentation and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated interest in and/or experience in the areas of capacity development, municipality-based work, social development and gender-based violence (will be an advantage);
  • Motivation to contribute towards prevention of gender-based violence (GBV), strengthening municipal systems of protection of women and girls from violence and to serve others;
  • Confidence to communicate with stakeholders of different levels;
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
  • Advanced computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google cloud applications).
  • Advanced social media user;
Language skills:
  • Ukrainian(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
