Unit Overview:

ICMPD is inviting all interested candidates to apply for the Internship position with the Policy and Strategic Partnership Unit. Based in the ICMPD’s Brussels Mission, the unit is responsible for liaison with EU institutions and other strategic stakeholders in Brussels, as well as support to the organization’s policy function.

Job Description:

The intern provides support to the work of the Policy and Strategic Partnership Unit based in ICMPD’s Brussels mission in Belgium.

The intern monitors developments related to ICMPD’s work and mandate in the EU institutions and provides support to events organisation, research or administrative needs as necessary. S/he collects, compiles and organises inputs to meetings, project reports, presentations, and communication materials. S/he attends and reports on events relevant to ICMPD’s work and mandate. The intern may provide support to project teams, as necessary.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Mission, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks within the Policy and Strategic Partnership Unit:

Carry out Brussels Mission content and research support tasks in view of the organisation of various international meetings and events in Brussels.

CarryoutBrusselsMissionadministrativeandlogisticaltasksasrequestedandaccordingto ICMPD rules, e.g. event management, management of the library.

Assist the Policy and Strategic Partnership team in the preparation of substantive outputs (research data, assist in analysis and drafting).

Edit/proofread strategic documents for both the Policy and Strategic Partnership Unit and project teams.

Organise translations into nominated project languages.

Assist in the preparations for missions from ICMPD Headquarters to Brussels. Perform any other duties as required.

Key Results:

The Policy and Strategic Partnership Unit benefits from support for its various activities The intern understands ICMPD, its mandate and the function of the Policy and Strategic Partnership Unit.

The intern has a strengthened understanding of migration, EU institutions, and the Brussels policy environment.

Incumbent Profile:

Excellent oral and written command of English, including the ability to prepare reports. Other languages will be considered an asset.

Knowledge of migration issues and European institutions.

Excellent communication skills, adaptability and flexibility.

Ability to work independently.

Good organisational skills including managing conflicting priorities and working with tight deadlines.

Ability to work effectively with colleagues from different cultural and professional backgrounds. Good analytical and interpersonal skills.

Corporate Qualifications:

Education:

economics, social or political science, migration or other related field.

Experience:

Experience of working within an office environment.

Knowledge, skills, abilities:

Computer proficiency (especially Microsoft Word and Excel)

2Compensation:

ICMPD offers amonthly fee of EUR500,00, andwill provide accident insurance for the durationof the internship. However, travel expenses will not be reimbursed and Health insurance is the responsibility of the incumbent.

The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with ICMPD.

PLEASE NOTE: An intern is not a staff member of ICMPD. An intern who is a non-citizen of the country in which the duty station is situated is responsible for obtaining any necessary visas and for complying with local laws regarding registration with the local authorities.
