Private Sector Partnerships Support Officer

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR's Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector for refugees. UNHCR has developed a $1 Billion Private Sector Fundraising Strategy 2018-2025. This strategy focuses on both Individual Giving and Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) and identifies priority fundraising markets and regions.

The Private Sector Partnerships Support Officer is part of a multi-functional team in the Partnership Support Unit (PSU) reporting to the Head of Unit in Copenhagen. PSU is one of three teams in the HQ Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) team, the other two units are the Partnership Development Unit (PDU), and the Shared Partnerships Unit (SPU).

PSU is a support function to the global PSP network of fundraisers and national associations (with operations in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and MENA), while also playing an integral role in strengthening cooperation with key institutional stakeholders namely the Regional Bureaux, Field Operations and Divisions to support PSP fundraising opportunities.
PSU aims to strengthen private sector donors¿ experience and position UNHCR as a trustworthy and reliable partner.
The Unit supports fundraisers and relationship managers along the entire donor journey, serving as a bridge between the fundraising network and the rest of UNHCR, and is critical to the success of PSP doubling the PPH income stream by 2025.

Reporting to the Head of Unit, the incumbent will be working in close collaboration with the Senior PSP Regional Manager for the Area of Responsibility (AoR). S/he will be based closer to operations within the AoR, and will play an important role supporting activities such as organisation of missions for PSP donors and partners in the AoR. In addition, the incumbent will provide support in researching, developing, and coordinating fundraising projects and proposals across the AoR or if necessary for specific campaigns.

The Private Sector Partnerships Support Officer will seek the advice of the Copenhagen-based PSU Project Development Officer who leads the technical task team of the AoR to guide fundraisers and ensure that the fundraising activities are targeted towards UNHCR priority areas and budgetary needs.

PSP has identified a need for predictable and systematic support for fundraising projects as well as for credible reporting to donors. Thus, the incumbent will be expected to contribute to enhancing the PSP capacity to develop donor targeted fundraising project proposals within the AoR, that will drive PSP to realize the ambitious targets set for fundraising from the private sector in both, the immediate and long term.

All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within their delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks. In addition, staff members are required to discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional, cross-functional and managerial competencies and UNHCR¿s core values of professionalism, integrity and respect for diversity.

- Produce high quality fundraising materials which are UNHCR Brand compliant, and aligned with UNHCR key messages that meet private sector donor needs
- Ensure that fundraising content is technically cleared by the Task Team lead of the AoR in PSU to confirm that propositions to PSP donors can be reliably implemented and reported on to support further giving, and avoid reputational risk to UNHCR
- Timely respond to queries from the PSP network, including support for PSP donor missions
- Prepare donor reports in coordination with the Associate PSP Officer (Writer-Proposals-Reports)
- Communicate regularly with the PSU team to ensure proper management and recording of income towards the AoR, as well as provide support to the team in preparation of regional and thematic packs and proposals
