ABOUT THE JOB

Under the supervision of fuel & transport assistant overall objective is this position is to drive DRC/DDG vehicles safely and as per transportation regulation and DRC standard SOPs. Including transportation of DRC staff and assets as directed.  

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the assigned vehicle in a correct and sensible manner in adherence to DRC SOPs, weather and road conditions at all times.
  • Drive carefully, do not exceed speed limits and obey all traffic rules and regulations.
  • Assist the Fleet Manager in ensuring all other vehicles are in appropriate driving condition. Provide overall maintenance services to assigned vehicle or any other DRC vehicle in coordination with the Fleet Manager. This includes minor repairs of vehicles and vehicle equipment.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is used only for DRC purposes.
  • Follow the assigned routes for the missions.
  • Ensure that the assigned vehicle is clean and road worthy.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, perform minor repairs and arrange for other related repairs.
  • Check water, battery, tyres and all fluid levels on a daily basis.
  • Use and maintain the vehicle communications (HF, VHF) in accordance with the call signs, terminology and radio discipline provided by DRC. Report any non-functioning communications equipment to the Fleet Manager.
  • Change oil filter and engine oil after every 2,500 km and the fuel filter after every 5,000 km.
  • Answerable for damage caused to the vehicle due to any avoidable circumstances.
  • Not to travel; on unsafe or unsuitable routes.
  • Keep available all necessary spare parts in the vehicle as instructed.
  • Keep track of all taken routes and passengers in the logbook. And have the main passenger sign for the trip.
  • Notify in logbook the fuel taken and the number of litres, the date, and the kilometres recorded.
  • Performing any other tasks as instructed by the administration department.

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Safe driving of DRC/ DDG vehicles as per local law and DRC procedures
  • Safe and proper care of DRC vehicles and ensure timely maintenance,
  • Ensure maintaining of accurate vehicle log book all the time.   

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies: 

  • Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience in warehouse management field with UN or international NGOs
  • Ability to multi task and work under pressure.

 

 

Education/qualifications:

  • 12th graduated or basic education.   

Languages:

  • Dari/ Pashto
  • English is an asset
  • Other skills:
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment and undertake a proactive approach;
  • Valid driving license
  • Good team player

  • Salary and conditions will be in accordance with DRC salary scale
  •  DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till end of 2020.
