Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task
  1. Supports in the assessment and development of WASH designs and work plans.
  2. Assist in programme monitoring WASH interventions, including end user monitoring.
  3. Support in training and building capacity of partners and local stakeholders.
  4. Support in generating periodic and timely reports on WASH interventions, both regular development programme and humanitarian response.
  5. Undertake field visits and prepare monitoring reports of the visited project sites and submit on timely manner
  6. Provide coordination roles to the regional/provincial WASH clusters and emergency response to the vulnerable

people.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas is required: Water Supply Engineering, Water Resource Management, Civil Engineering, or a field relevant to international water supply related development assistance.
Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to 2 years) in water and sanitation related areas
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, Dari and or/Pashto is required
  • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
  • Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others).
Language skills:
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
