ABOUT THE ROLE
Provide high-level administrative, and project support to the Regional Management Team and assist with research, logistical and coordination tasks of Amnesty International’s Southern Africa Regional Office. Desk top Research capacity and effective writing are a must.

JOB PURPOSE
This role contributes to the mission of Amnesty International in Southern Africa. The Southern Africa Regional Office contributes to the wider International Secretariat by carrying out impactful and locally relevant research and campaign to ensure that those responsible for human rights violations and abuses are held accountable and that practical solutions bringing about real change in people’s lives happen.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Coordinate and manage all aspects of the RD’s diary, to ensure he/she has a regularly updated, well-organised and accessible schedule, as well as an effectively prioritised workload.
* Assist the RD and his/her Deputies with the research and preparation of materials as delegated or originated by the RD and his/her Deputies, including researching, drafting, formatting, proof reading, coordinating, printing and distributing agreed outputs.
* Support internal strategic planning, mid-term reviews, and management of policy documents including any special projects, ensuring the timely and effective delivery of work plans and objectives.
* Manage and coordinate all correspondence and requests received by the Regional Director, identify issues of importance drawing them to the attention of the appropriate person. Prepare and draft responses to correspondence, responding directly whenever possible. Initiate and implements a range of efficient and secure channels of communication to ensure the rapid and effective flow of information.
* Research, coordinate and organise local and international travel arrangements for the RD, Deputies as well as other staff from the Regional Office as appropriate. Prepare travel itineraries, collate travel documents, meeting papers and other information needed by the RD for such business trips.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Significant experience in providing high level executive support to senior executives and/or board members, preferably in an international organization.
* Experience of diary management, making travel arrangements, coordinating and servicing meetings.
* Strong conceptual skills, including ability to produce concise research documents
* Ability to draft correspondence and other documents on behalf of the Regional Director.
