MHPSS Officer specific roles and responsibilities

Under supervision ofMHPSS Senior Officer and extended supervision of MHPSS Manager theMHPSS Officer will undertake following responsibilities :

  • Ensure implementation of the activities are in line with mission values and SOPs, relevant national/international standards, codes of conduct, and humanitarian principle
  • Provide administrative support to ensure that MHPSS programeoperations are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner and communicate this accordingly e.g., activity calendar, training calendar and Movement Plans for MHPSS team members
  • raising field needs to Administrative Officers through monthly procurement plans
  • Conduct regular and Contribute to the development of the team’s capacity building plan and ensure its implementation with the MHPSSSenior Officer and Mental Health Manager
  • Monitor on going care plan development with special attention to safety issues and stabilizing the clients from the effects of high riskfactors (domestic violence , suicide , self-harm …..)
  • Leading Conducting awareness sessions on several mental health and psychosocial support topicsby CHWs
  • The MHPSS Officer will liaise closely with the CP/WPE/PRoL Officers to ensure continuous feedback and coordination, including (where and if appropriate for the specific sector): case conferencing, action planning, and any additional follow-up, as needed;
  • Support and/or provide training for MHPSS Counselors,social/ case workers on the delivery of MHPSS curriculum, learning resources and tools and improve MHPSS Counselors , social workers’ counselling techniques and skills ,PFA , ensuring review and approval of all content from the relevant sector leads prior to commencing;
  • Support the MHPSS Seniors Officer ,and MHPSS Manager in programme reporting, supervision of donor files and monitoring of activities
  • Ensure all client files are keptin safe , privet and appropriately way by regularlydata audit
  • Attend Peer Support sessions with Senior MHPSS Officer and coordinate with him about topics and provide sessions when Senior Officer isn’t available.
  • Facilitate Protection clients’ access to mental health services;
  • Lead usual updating of Service Mapping by MHPSS counselors in the field
  • Participate in programme meetings for strategic planning and evaluation.

Administration

  • Coordinate with program managers and senior officers on MHPSS activity plans
  • Ensure that all regular standing meetings and sessions (weekly and monthly) keep to the same agreed time each week/month
  • Liaise with relevant program staff to organize the logistics for meetings, sessions, and trainings Coordination, Monitoring and Learning
  • Submit regular feedback report to the MHPSS Senior Officer andMHPSS Manager and Follow up on the MHPSS indicators
  • Ensure data related to case management and referrals are managed in a safe and ethical way; respecting Data Protection policy and case management principles
  • Support the training of developed materials for mental health messaging with MHPSS counselors , social worker, CHW and community mobiliser staff, and work closely with the protection teams
  • Ensure pre-and post-tests, and training evaluations are documented, analyzed and sent to training participant supervisors;
  • Coordinate closely with other sectors and organizations to ensure clients mental health and psychosocial needs are met as per the IASC guidelines
  • ensure strong coordination with other programs and NGOsfor effective implementation of the internal and external referral pathway
  • Update and maintain training tracker for donor reporting;
