Project Overview and Role:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Humanitarian and Stabilisation Operations Team (HSOT) maintains a database of humanitarian experts to provide skilled consultants to DFID to work across a range of humanitarian disciplines and in collaboration with UK Government Departments, other humanitarian agencies, governments and authorities at country level.

HSOT is looking for a Humanitarian Affairs Officer to join the roster to collaborate with the Department for International development, on emergency response and protracted crises, providing Humanitarian analysis and information management services.

Responsibilities
* Collect and triangulate information on Humanitarian situations and Humanitarian needs, keep track of emerging trends to provide analysis and reports in order to inform response priorities.
* Supporting Humanitarian Advisors recommending programme priorities, strategies, delivery methods and projects proposals and in the provision of humanitarian advice.
* Support DFID and/or DFID partner disaster impact and needs assessments.
* Provide input and, as requested, lead on developing draft submissions, information notes, briefings, for DFID and HMG.
* Brief and liaise with external stakeholders, i.e., UN, Government and other donors involved The Humanitarian and Stabilisation Operations team provides the Department for International Development with Humanitarian Operations services and the UK Government’s Stabilisation Unit with Stabilisation Support.

Required Qualifications: Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Degree level education in a relevant subject.
* Proven Research and analytical skills.
* Proven experience of providing humanitarian information management and reporting during rapid onset humanitarian crises, including surveying and monitoring key information networks.
* Strong Programme management skills.
* Excellent networking and representational skills at all levels, which may include Government, UN, RC Movement and NGOS.
* Proficient in English and French or other languages as Spanish or Portuguese.
