We are looking to appoint a dynamic and influential senior leader as our new Executive Director of International.

Reporting to our CEO Mike Adamson, this executive leadership position provides a real opportunity to drive and develop our international strategy, whilst shaping the purpose and footprint of our international work, developing our team, ensuring we are fit for the future and continue to be a leading player in supporting people in crisis around the world.

This is an exciting moment to join the largest humanitarian network in the world as the British Red Cross look to introduce and implement our new ‘Strategy2030’. The successful candidate will orchestrate our investment and partnership strategy, leadership development, performance and risk management, ensuring program d esign rooted in communities. You will make a real lasting impression on our capability and capacity to shape and deliver our international strategy moving forward.

All Executive Directors have three key accountabilities: for overall delivery of our mission and corporate strategic objectives; portfolio accountability for at least one cross-cutting agenda, from climate to keeping people safe; and responsibility for the wellbeing and performance of the International directorate.

What we are looking for
We are looking for an ambitious candidate who has a blend of senior level experience at both Head Office and field levels with extensive experience of programme and people management, including leadership of change and leading dispersed teams. They will have strong and credible engagement and advocacy insight and experience at the most senior levels on the big humanitarian issues and impressive media presence.

The succe ssful candidate will act as a critical partner to our Chief Executive, executive leadership team colleagues and to our Board of Trustees.

The successful candidate will share a commitment to our Fundamental Principles, humanitarian purpose and organisational values.
