Position Title : ICT Assistant

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO GPW13 in the context of biennial plans agreed on with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran and harmonized with the United Nations country team.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

1. Provide technical support required for the administration and operation of the WHO Country Office Local Area Network, Wide Area Network and Internet based communications including hardware/software requirements, network protocols, data security measures and assist in system integration through multiple LAN servers and protocols.

2. Coordinate, with the Informatics Management Support unit at the Regional Office, the installation, set up, implementation and training for computer applications to facilitate workflow and implementation of technical programmes including standard office applications, Internet and e-mail services, Global Management System (GSM), the Imprest Account, Country Activity Management System (CAMS) and other applications on the country office LAN.

3. Install, set up and certify compliance with standards and specifications of new hardware and software in offices of WHO supported projects in the country.

4. Based on needs assessments, conduct related training sessions for staff and non-staff, resulting in better use of IT resources.

5. Assess ICT needs in support of WR Office and national health programmes and communicate results to the Regional Office for coordination and approval of action.

6. Prepare and verify receiving reports of newly purchased data processing equipment for the WR Office and other WHO supported projects and dispatch them to the Regional Office.

7. Any other data processing and telecommunication related task, as assigned by supervisors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary education; Training in area of informatics or telecommunication;Formal training on Windows Operating Systems family;Formal training on MS Office Suite.
Desirable: University degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field is an asset.

Experience

Essential: At least eight years of progressive experience in operation of computers, hardware maintenance/trouble-shooting and software support.
Desirable: Relevant work experience with UN

Skills

- Good knowledge of microcomputer operations;

- Excellent knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Windows based networking environment;

- Excellent knowledge of Windows based back office and desktop applications;

- Knowledge of basic telecommunications technologies and Internet based protocols.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 26,638 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
