Organizational Setting

The Regional Office for RLC is responsible for leading FAO's response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO's priority activities in the region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the Region and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at Headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO's strategic response to regional priorities. RLC also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organizational Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies. RLC develops and maintains relations with region-wide institutions including the Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs).

The Regional Office supports regional policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates the emergence of regional partnerships, and supports capacity development and resource mobilization for food security, agriculture and rural development in the region.

Reporting Lines

The Consultant Collaboration tools support and administrative activities will work under the direct supervision of the Information Technology Support Officer, in close coordination with the CSI and Senior Administrative Officer.

Technical Focus

The objective of the consultancy is to disseminate and support collaboration tools such as MS Teams in the Latin American and Caribbean region, in addition to giving administrative support to the information technology team of the regional office in Santiago, especially those related to the coordination of virtual events.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Administrative support for the ICT team such as management of purchase orders, contracts and supplier payments, etc.
  • Collaborate in the IT work plan 2021 and planning of the budget corresponding to the IT area, as well as make a respective analysis and follow-up of it during the year.
  • Provide support in preparing the annual work plan for IT-related activities.
  • Continuous monitoring of incidents at the Help Desk, identifying and assigning impact and priorities to incidents (status report, actions taken, report to the user) until the final solution and user satisfaction, escalating to specialized groups in cases that is required, keeping the information updated and complete.
  • Interact and collaborate with other levels / groups of technical support, IT and administrative units when necessary.
  • Deliver ad hoc training, virtual videoconferencing service, for end users (including new users), with the aim of clarifying processes and improving the use of the system, as appropriate.
  • Training in Collaboration Tools.
  • Support in the coordination of virtual and face-to-face events.
  • Other support, coordination and / or preparation activities as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree IT, administrative, learning and related fields.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in end user support.
  • Working knowledge (level C) of English and Spanish

  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work.

  • Experience in preparing financial progress and monitoring reports.
  • Experience in working with/or in government departments, national and international NGOs and other UN agencies is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Office 365 collaboration tools.
  • Desirable teaching experience.
  • ITIL certification will be considered an advantage.
