CRS has operated in Malawi since 1997 as a leading organization in programs improving food security and nutrition, serving vulnerable children and their families, improving community management of natural resources, responding to emergencies and supporting local partners and institutions to sustain development gains over the long-term. As the country program leverages its experience to fulfill the agency’s mission towards its new strategic objectives, it will be driving innovative and scalable programs in food security and land restoration, positive youth development and children focused programs, health systems strengthening and private sector development through platforms of collaboration and influence with local partners, the Church, government.

Job Summary:
As a member of the Country Program (CP) Senior Management Team, you will provide strategic direction, leadership, and management of the CP's programming to ensure the establishment and successful implementation of high-quality programs serving the poor and vulnerable. Your leadership, management and knowledge will ensure that the CP delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of its programming. As part of the Senior Management Team you will proactively manage security and mitigate security risks.

Education and Experience
* Master's Degree in International Development, International Relations or relevant field.
* Minimum of 5 years work experience in a program management position with progressive responsibilities for an international NGO, at least three years of middle/senior management experience.
* Strong experience in project grants management, including project design, building strong alliances, budget preparation, expenditure tracking, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, etc., preferably f or projects funded by multiple public donors, including USAID.
* Experience in managing large teams and/or multiple concurrent grants.
* Experience with successful business development activities capturing public and/or private donor funding.
* Excellent English writing skills.
* Demonstrated experience in collaborating with private sector partners and engaging government partners at all levels, established networks or experience in Malawi a plus.
* Experience in partner capacity strengthening, staff development, training, and mentoring, as well as in team building and strategic planning initiatives. Experience working with Church partners a plus
* Demonstrated ability to innovate and show thought leadership.
* Staff management experience and abilities that are conducive to a learning environment.
* Experience and abilities in capacity strengthening - developing curricula and faci litating trainings.
* Experience using MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems, and knowledge sharing networks.

Required Languages – Chichewa or Tumbuka a plus

Travel - Must be willing and able to travel up to 35 %.

Supervision of MEAL Manager, Program Unit Leads, Project Team Leaders, and others as assigned.

External – Church partners, Local implementing partners, Government counterparts, Peer organizations
