ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Job holders performing front office management functions typically report to the Division Director or Country Directors. In cases where these positions support a specific business stream, the reporting line may be to the Head of Unit or Chief.
At this level job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. They have responsibility for undertaking specialised donor and reports writting  work,There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Support projects and operational activities that maintain and develop partnerships with governments, the private sector, UN clusters, UN agencies and other relevant stakeholders in order to maximise coordination and resources raised for the programme.
  2. Track, collate and forecast data to support senior managers in developing new strategies to maintain and increase funding from new and traditional donors.
  3. Collate data, analyze and prepare accurate and timely reports to donors and other stakeholders, and internal WFP reports.
  4. Support organizing donor/diplomatic missions to WFP offices and operations and producing relevant presentations and briefing materials. 
  5. Support in liaising with other WFP partnerships officers to ensure the flow of information and effective donor resources mobilization.
  6. Support building relationships with local and internal media to enhance the visibility of WFP in the local communities, the donor community and other relevant key audiences.  
  7. Produce communication materials, including factsheets, press releases, and Power Point presentations and support/coordinate the production of digital communication materials for use on social media platforms.   
  8. Other as required.
JOB PURPOSE

To coordinate and control a full range of business support services for a specific professional area of work, to ensure that services are delivered effectively.  

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Good communication skills in order to provide specialised business support services to a wide range of individuals.

  • Ability to proactively identify and recommend areas for improvement to the external relation unit.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of undergraduate degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, Marketing Communications, Media or other relevant field.

Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in the sphere of reporting, media, public relations or event organisation. Additionally soft skills of communication, judgement, analytics and writing are preferred.

anguage: Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic languages. Knowledge of one additional UN language would be advantageous

Media and Communication Expertise Collates accurate and timely information presented in required format (i.e. written or visual materials) as well as verbally, to enable information flows and informed decision making on communications issues.

Specialised Knowledge in Communications Exhibits specalised technical knowledge of communications channels processes, tools and techniques. In immediate area of responsibility, provides support in developing written, visual, audio and multi-media content for communications materials and suggestions for improved communications processes.

Sociopolitical Contextual Understanding Shows awareness of the multilateral/interagency environment and the dynamics in which WFP operates which informs approach to daily tasks. Communication Strategy and Planning Demonstrates sound understanding of WFP communications strategy and effectively implements tailored media and communications plans which support the delivery of the strategy.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Contrcat modality and compensation 

 This job is covered under the a Service Contract  (SC)  

The SC is a decentralized contracting instrument, which is cost effective and flexible for use only by WFP Country Offices.

SC holders are covered under the safety and security measures implemented by the COs and RBs and must comply with the relevant security instructions under the Security Plan

The SC is a non-staff contract. It is a legal document between WFP and an individual whose services are contracted on the basis of the Service Contract Form

The SC is governed strictly by the terms of the contract itself, and management of those contracts is guided by this Manual Section

Individuals acknowledge and accept the terms and conditions of engagement by signing the SC and recognize that these are different from those that apply to WFP staff members governed by the FAQ Staff Regulations and Rules.

The SC does not carry any expectation of extension or renewal, under any circumstances. WFP must ensure that there is full disclosure to SC holders of their rights and obligations, and especially of their conditions of service.

The SC holder must have had at least 6 months of uninterrupted service under Service Contract modality with WFP at the time of the birth of the child to qualify for Paternity leave; 28 days may be taken at any time from the date of birth of a child to the end of 12th month of the child’s life.

Medical insurance

The Medical insurance coverage will be granted by WFP at no cost to all SC holders.

The medical insurance coverage may be extended to the eligible dependents of the individual contractor, at extra charge borne by the SC

Death and Disability

SC holders must be covered for service incurred disability/injury/death, at no cost.

National holidays:

10 days per year, will be those observed by the WFP office in the country. You will be entitled to holiday days fallen within your contract duration.

Hours of work

5 days a week Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 15:30pm.
