Consultancy - Project Manager DHIS2 and COVID, Data & Analytics (D&A), DAPM NYHQ (home based)

To support D&A nutrition team on a variety of work related to data on nutrition, supporting a few different projects with a focus on COVID-19 and nutrition information systems. This consultancy will support managing, facilitating, disseminating our work on various projects.

BACKGROUND

To support D&A nutrition team on a variety of work related to data on nutrition, supporting a few different projects with a focus on COVID-19 and nutrition information systems.  This consultancy will support managing, facilitating, disseminating our work on various projects.

Terms of Reference / Deliverables

• Support project management of COVID-related work for DAIU Nutrition team to support USAID-funded project – The D&A nutrition team has a USAID-funded project to understand how to improve nutrition resilience to COVID-19 or future such events by advancing the state of knowledge on nutrition vulnerabilities to COVID-19, modelling the potential impact of COVID on various nutrition outcomes and documenting approaches and strategies to monitor the situation and response on nutrition during COVID19. The incumbent will support the overall management and coordination of this project, as well as other projects related to nutrition information systems, such as the DHIS that the team is engaged in.
• Support landscape analysis of innovative methods to collect nutrition data during COVID – Data collection efforts through traditional household surveys are currently suspended as a result of COVID-19 mitigation measures. The candidate will support landscape analysis of innovative methods being employed by countries to monitor the situation and response on nutrition during COVID-19 and document interesting cases.
• Support fundraising efforts and business development – Support to develop ideas and materials to especially those related to technological innovations.
• Support writing grant reports – The incumbent will support developing grant reports to ensure timely reporting.
• Support with data analysis and review – The incumbent will support the D&A nutrition team to undertake reanalysis of surveys and review new data sources against a set of data review criteria for inclusion in nutrition global databases. These activities will be key for efficiently conducting various analysis on nutrition and COVID
• Support communication and dissemination of data related to key nutrition indicators by writing blogs, producing short summary documents and other communication related activities

Qualifications

(1) Education

• A Master’s degree in public health, nutrition or other social science field is required

2) Work experience

• 1-2 years of experience conducting quantitative or qualitative data analysis. Knowledge of data collected in large scale household surveys such as MICS and DHS is preferred
• Experience writing grant reports is preferred.
• Proven project management experience is preferred

3) Competencies

• Strong organizational and planning skills, and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with subject matter related to monitoring and evaluation, data, information systems, nutrition, epidemiology, public health.
• Similar work experience preferred.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to establish harmonious working relations in a multicultural environment and as part of a team.

  • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
  • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.

• Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
• At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
• Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.
  
  

U.S. Visa information:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.
