In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers and other anonymous donors.

Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Budgets and Grants Officer and will be reporting to Program Director.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that awards are in compliance with donor and established Jhpiego administrative and financial management policies, procedures, and sound business practices.
• Generate various financial reports from QuickBooks accounting software and upload them in MS Excel worksheets on a monthly/quarterly basis for tracking, review and reporting purposes.
• Work with respective Program Leads/Finance back-stop in re-aligning the existing budgets, follow-up for quarterly projections and consolidation for quarterly reviews.
• Track and analyze monthly LOE of all in-country staff.
• Co-ordinate with Jhpiego HQ in reviewing invoices raised by Jhpiego to various donors before signatures by JHU.
• Train and orient state/sub-grantee’s finance staff on Jhpiego reporting requirement, format, systems, procedures and relevant donor rules and regulations, as applicable.
• Assist in creating budgets, preparing and submitting monthly/quarterly financial reports.
• Assist in conducting financial analysis and F&A reviews of the state offices.
• Review all India goods/services request and individual consultancies in line with approved budget/budget availability.
• Ensure timely booking of expenses at in-country at the time of grant close out.
• Ensure and perform required actions towards award start up and close out related necessities.
• Maintains proper documentation of all grant documents and donor guidelines.
• Support external/internal audits and financial reviews by the donors.
• Assure effective performance of a broad range of support functions having project-wide implications.
• Work intensively with New Proposal Development (NPD) team on new proposal budgets.
• Prepare analytical reports for management/project leads which would help them in planning activities in advance for ensuring proper spending per approved budget.
• Develop tools/systems for improving tracking of expenses as per budget.

Abilities/Skills:

• Demonstrated financial management skills, including budget preparation, tracking and financial analysis.
• Solid written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to work within an international program team and communicate regularly with a variety of team members.
• Cooperative, hardworking, trustworthy, flexible and dependable.
• Ability to take initiative to anticipate and resolve problems.
• Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines.
• Ability to travel within India as and when required.
• Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks

Qualifications/Knowledge:

• CA/ICWA/Master-Finance/ Commerce with 5-8 years of experience in Budget Preparation/ Tracking, Financial Analysis having some exposure working with an international NGO.
• Experience in operating accounting Software, Advanced Proficiency in MS Office applications like Excel, Word and Power-Point.
