In India, Jhpiego works in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the national and state level, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and newborn health, human resources for health, noncommunicable diseases and comprehensive primary health care. Our projects are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers, David & Lucile Packard Foundation and others .

Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Advisor- Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) based in New Delhi for the NISHTHA Program. The position will report to the Chief of Party-NISHTHA.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership for the overall designing of project’s RMNCH+A strategy, activities, and approaches that are evidence-based and aligned with Government of India’s and donor’s priorities
• Provide technical expertise in RMNCH+A activities of NISHTHA and support integration of RMNCH+A services in Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs)
• Support in implementation of Adolescent Health activities of NISHTHA which include roll out of School Health & Wellness Ambassador Initiative, integration of AH under the ambit of Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) and Adolescent Mental Health
• Provide timely and adequate technical guidance on strengthening availability of FP commodities at HWCs, improving service quality and effective implementation of priority FP interventions as per NISHTHA’s work plan
• Building capacities of primary healthcare teams (from curricula development to their implementation) for providing high quality RMNCH+A services in HWCs to the communities
• Develop strategies around improving couple communication and male engagement in family planning through active engagement of primary healthcare teams and leveraging existing outreach platforms like VHND/ community groups/ community structures, wherever available
• In collaboration with the M&E team of NISHTHA, reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the effectiveness of RMNCH+A activities and provides recommendations for improvements.
• Ensure timely implementation of program activities as per the agreed annual program work plans.
• Keep abreast of emerging research and best practices in RMNCH+A and ensure that information is shared in an appropriate manner with national and state governments, partners and NISHTHA staff and high impact services are represented in NISHTHA interventions.
• Oversee and support the development of learning resource packages, documents, reports, and presentations according to the project’s need and ensure dissemination.
• Help ensure quality, consistency and adherence to standards and best practices for Family
• Planning through technical oversight and systematic implementation
• Provide collaborative support to the RMNCH+A division of MoHFW for the effective implementation of RMNCH+A activities in NISHTHA States.
• Maintains collaborative relationships with donor, National and State Governments, bilateral and other NGOs and consistently maintained and viewed as a knowledgeable resource in RMNCAH+N domain
• Ensure that NISHTHA’s activities meet donor’s FP compliance requirements
• In collaboration with communication colleagues design and develop and support communication approaches that support national RMNCAH+N priorities; write and review technical components of materials, publications, journal articles and reports.
• Travel within NISHTHA states to support project implementation and monitoring as needed.
• Provide leadership for the evolution and expansion of Jhpiego’s RMNCH+A portfolio, programs and activities
• Perform or assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Abilities/Skills:

• Strong technical and programmatic skills and experience across a range of RMNCH+A domains
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability of writing technical and programmatic documents including proposals
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with counterparts in governments, other development partners, donor agencies and organizations
• Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
• Proficiency in MS office
• A high level of integrity and professionalism
• Willing to travel about 30% of the time

Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience:

• MBBS/ MD/ or doctoral degree in Public Health, or other relevant discipline
• 10+ years of relevant experience in RMNCH+A domain preferably in Family Planning, School Health and Adolescent Health
• In-depth understanding of evolving RMNCH+A priorities and donor expectations for program results, outcomes, impact and reporting
• Experience in the development of strategic plans in collaboration with other stakeholders who may represent a wide range of interests and needs
