OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMMEIn line with GPW13's focus on strategic shifts, the DG's Envoy advocates for health at the highest political level. The DG's Envoy supported with her/his department - distinct from day-to-day External Relations operations and directly reporting to DG - lifts WHO's profile, leads negotiations in multilateral and intergovernmental settings to ensure high-level representation on behalf of the DG, and an assertive united voice and effective brokering of deals on behalf of the Organization.The DG's Envoy provides political and diplomatic leadership for key strategic initiatives (e.g. WHO Academy).
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESDraft and prepare relevant policy analysis, meeting notes, documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations. Identify, analyze, and summarize critical information in order to advise and support the DG's Envoy to facilitate strategic management decision making.Track and manage DG's Envoy's department portfolios of engagement, upcoming workload and deadlines and provide cross-cutting support and ensure smooth running of the office. Working closely with the Director General's Office, assist in the planning and coordination of the Director General's schedule, bilateral, and multilateral meetings and events, where it relates to the responsibilities of the DG's Envoy. Coordinate and act as point of contact for external partners and multilateral events, such as the Munich Security Conference, G20 Sherpa Meetings, etc. Travel with the DG's Envoy when necessary to participate in high-level meetings supporting with all external engagement activities. Follow-up with action on matters which fall within the DG's Envoy's responsibility, and guide organizational and logistical tasks, as well as support internal coordination in the dissemination of timely information to various teams supporting WHO's engagement with external stakeholders and in the collection and consolidation of health-related information. Undertake special projects and initiatives of the DG's Envoy office and provide support within the organization to ensure coherent engagement with external partners, the public and governments for WHO priorities. Support the DG's Envoy on administrative responsibilities such as workplan development, output reporting, etc. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
EducationEssential: First level university degree in development studies, international relations, health, economics social sciences or related field.
Desirable: Certificate in project management (PRINCE2) or equivalent training.
ExperienceEssential: A minimum of 5 years combined experience working in international relations, development and/or global health including project management experience. Experience in coordinating and supporting of large meetings and committees. Experience working with the UN system and/or with multilateral fora. Demonstrated experience at the international level.
SkillsKnowledge in the fields of international relations, international development and/or global health. High level skills in effective oral and written communication, including drafting and editing concise reports. Skills in coordinating and managing complex schedules and multiple projects. Concrete skills working independently in multi-tasking situations and the coordination of large-scale meetings and proven skills in project management. Excellent interpersonal skills. Personal attributes including integrity, tact and discretion. High level of judgement, responsibility and initiative.

REMUNERATIONWHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 60,962 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4501 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
