Resource Mobilization Officer

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Resource Mobilization Manager, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support to Donor recognition and engagement: ensure donor requirements are met, and UNICEF’s profile and reputation is enhanced, by supporting the development and implementation of each programme section’s donor recognition and visibility plans and briefs, the development of the regular donor newsletter, and donor engagement briefs
  • Support to donor submissions: Support the timeliness and quality of all donor submissions, such as donor reports, amendments, and proposals, by consolidation and editing of programmatic, financial and narrative information, ensuring high-quality layout and branding, compliance with donor requirements and results-based management tools
  • Fundraising systems administration and maintenance: Administer, monitor and strive to improve resource mobilization and grant management systems, processes, and information in line with agreed standards; this might include donor profile and contact information, donor submissions, and fundraising guidelines

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
  • Regular partnerships newsletter produced and delivered;
  • Donor recognition plans reviewed and supported;
  • Donor engagement briefs or consultations supported and developed
  • Donor submissions consolidated and reviewed
  • Pipeline and grant management/information systems updated and administered
  • The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs);
  • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment
  • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or another relevant field.

Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:

A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: fundraising, public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area”
