The Norwegian Red Cross is part of the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement, the world’s largest humanitarian network with millions of volunteers and staff operating in 190 countries. Our mission is to alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and uphold human dignity especially during armed conflicts and other emergencies. To achieve this, we follow the seven humanitarian principles; Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary service, Unity and Universality.

The geographic focus in Asia is Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, DPRK, and temporary engagement in disaster affected areas. Thematically, Norwegian Red Cross competencies and capacities aim to improve primary health services and community health, with associated protection of health workers and other vulnerable groups.

The strategic responsibilities of this function are:

· Manage contributions to Red Cross Red Crescent Movement’s disaster preparedness and response

· Oversee results management in the region. Manage technical delegates in accordance with Norwegian Red Cross leadership model.

· Deputize for the Regional Representative.

Education

Higher education at master level within relevant field **

Skills and knowledge

· Experience from implementing humanitarian projects at field level.

· Track-record of successful partnerships and resource mobilisation

· Track record of emergency response deployments an asset

· Advanced knowledge of disaster preparedness and response mechanisms.

· Excellent drafting and reporting skills

· Fluency in English. Working proficiency of regional languages is an asset

· Technical expertise in Health or WASH an asset.

Reporting to:

Regional Representative ASIA, based in Islamabad, Pakistan

Duty location: Kuala Lumpur, with frequent travels in the region

Contract:

24 months’ contract, possible with extension
