Organizational Settings

The main aim o the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist Governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to atchive food security and reduce hhunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environemental and natural resources in sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

The NPP shall operate under the overall responsibility of the FAO Representative in Tajikistan, in close collaboration with Asistant FAO Representative, guidance and directions of Travel Assistant and Senior Driver, as well as in close collaboration of Repesnetation and Projects personnel.

Technical Focus

The Driver will provide driving and logistical support according to existing rules and regulation of UN, manuals and the best practices of the Organization.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure provision of reliable and secure driving services to authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;
  • Ensure that the office official vehicle is at all time in sound mechanical condition, roadworthy and in a presentable state outwardly and inwardly as well as MOSS compliant;
  • Ensure that vehicle used solely and exclusively for official purposes. In this respect a specific log book is kept on board in every vehicle and pertinent data regularly recorded;
  • Keep track of fuel consumption and verifies it with the logbooks;
  • Whenever not in use, official vehicles shall be parked within the designated secure parking;
  • Any related duties are performed as and when requested.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirement

  • Minimum completed secondary school education;
  • National of Tajikistan
  • Valid driver’s license of B and C categories and knowledge of Tajikistan Traffic Code
  • Technical skills in minor vehicle repairs.

Technical /Functional Skills

  • At least 5 years of previous experience in working for international organization as driver with safe driving records; Work with UN agencies is preferable;
  • Knowledge of basic topography good navigational skills and excellent knowledge of roads and locations.
  • Map reading abilities and use of modern navigation devices like GPS.
  • Valid certificate of basic First Aid Training and knowledge of life saving techniques.
  • Ability to communicate easily and effectively;
  • Efficient time management
  • Ability to drive to remote areas with harsh road conditions in an air conditioned car;
  • Physically fit with no pernicious habits that can delay and distract road missions (UN is non-smoking environment);
  • High sense of responsibility, reliability, maturity and team spirit are important assets;
  • Affinity with the mandate and role of the United Nations;

Additional Selection Criteria

  • Oral fluency in Tajik and Russian are mandatory and English languages as the working language of the organization will be a strong advantage.
