In Togo, UNICEF is investing in the creation of a nation worthy of children, girls and boys guided by the standards and principles embodied in the Convention on the Rights of the Child signed by Togo on August 1, 1990.

UNICEF Lome Office is committed to promoting and defending the Rights of Children and helping them realize their potential and change the country's vision with children.

The driver is part of Operations component of Togo country Office. He/she will drive office vehicles and facilitate efficient and effective transportation service to staff office in-town errands and field programme movements.

 

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Administrative Officer, the driver provides reliable and safe driving services, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol whilst ensuring compliance with local driving rules and regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drives office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents, supplies and other items
  • Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates airport formalities as required.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs
  • Ensures that the vehicle is kept clean
  • Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc
  • Ensures that the radio room is informed of all movements outside the town limits and remains in contact within town when away from the office
  • Performs any other required duties.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of the secondary education, along with a valid driver’s license and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required.
  • Experience working in an international organization, embassy or UN system, is an asset. 
  • Knowledge and skills in minor vehicle repair are an asset.
  • Proficiency in French is required. Fluency in any of the local languages of the duty station
  • Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with visitors.
  • High sense of confidentiality, initiative and good judgment
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
