The Berghof Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization supporting people in conflict in their efforts to achieve sustainable peace through conflict transformation and peacebuilding. Headquartered in Berlin, the organization is run by a diverse team and works with local partners around the world. For our project focused on Religion & Mediation, we are looking for a Project Manager (div/f/m) to join the team as described below. The position is based in Berlin.

Overview of the position:

Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Starting date: As soon as possible

Duration: limited contract until the end of 2021

Location: Berlin, Germany

Department & reporting line: Dept. Global Learning for Conflict Transformation, reporting to the Head of Department

Your main tasks:

  • Organize and coordinate project activities; devise work roles and implementation plan in collaboration with the (Senior) Advisors on Mediation
  • Own support/input on activities incl. travel abroad (multiple countries, partially with travel warning)
  • Oversee project implementation 
  • Budget monitoring
  • Donor communication and relations in cooperation with (Senior) Advisors on Mediation
  • Project partner/stakeholders/participant communication and relations
  • Close monitoring of thematic area – Religion & Mediation 
  • Internal coordination with other teams esp. M & E- advisors
  • Development of follow up concept notes/proposals if deemed necessary

Your knowledge, experience & skills: 

  • MA degree in a relevant field, such as religious studies,  peace and conflict studies, political science or International Relations 
  • Advanced relevant work experience in projects or processes with local communities and with thematic focus on religion and conflict
  • Strong intercultural and interpersonal communication skills  
  • Excellent verbal and written language skills in English, C1 German skills are minimum
  • Working experience in MS Office applications 
  • Sensitivity/open-mindedness to work with traditional and  religious leaders
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team as well as independently 
  • Curiosity, passion and perseverance
