OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Division of Data, Analytics and Delivery for Impact supports and strengthens the generation and collection, analysis, use and dissemination of data and evidence to promote better evidence-informed decision-making in Member States. Its goal is to build capacity in member states to monitor the health of their populations and the impact of health interventions and to promote evidence informed policy decisions. The monitoring of WHO's Global Programme of Work 13 2019-2023 (GPW 13) Impact Framework is also a key function.

The Department of Data and Analytics is responsible for monitoring progress on the GPW 13, strengthening country health information, data generation and evidence creation in collaboration with partners and addresses critical data gaps for priority health topics. It also serves as Division focal point for collaboration with other departments with regard to primary data generation efforts and analysis. It undertakes analysis of health trends and determinants.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

1. Independently manage the clearance of statistical information printed and published online, involving careful review and comments as needed.

2. Streamline the clearance process, including improving on the paper-based system.

3. Assist team with standards-related projects to publications and the Global Health Observatory.

4. Keep track of officially-released estimates

5. Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: A first level university degree in public health, statistics, epidemiology or other related area.
Desirable: An advanced degree with relevant public health, health information or statistics content.

Experience

Essential: A minimum of 2 years' experience in analysing and/or management and dissemination of health data, of which at least one year at the international level.
Desirable: Experience in working with international organizations, preferably within WHO and/or other UN agencies.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 47,895 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 3317 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
