Job Overview:

IRC health team staff from Uganda and South Sudan will be forming a design sprint Core Team to generate a solution to increase the uptake of contraceptives among refugee and vulnerable host community adolescents. Adolescents face many challenges in taking up contraceptives, including:

●Needing family permission to access services

●Beliefs that contraception is for sex workers

●Health providers who refuse to provide services

●Health services aimed at women and babies that do not meet the interests or needs of young people

The IRC supports mobile and facility-based health services either directly and indirectly through government services.

Major Responsibilities:

●Co-lead the remote design sprint planning & facilitation

●Design research planning and execution

●Prototype planning, creation of prototype assets, and support testing

Deliverables:

●Sprint remote collaboration platform preparation and tools

●Prototyping and design research plan

●Prototyping assets

●Revised design

●Final Report: design insights and frameworks, testing results, recommendations

Job Requirements:

Work Experience:

-Design research experience of 3-5 years

-Prototyping experience of 3-5 years

-Service design experience 3-5 years

-Work in reproductive health or in low resource contexts experience strongly preferred

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

-Design Research

-Product Design

-Graphic Design

Language Skills:

-English

-Swahili preferred

Preferred experience & skills:

●Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications

●Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time

●Strong problem-solving skills

●Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure

●Highly proficient in Adobe Suite

●Highly proficient in Google Suite

Working Environment:

●Part time remote work (approx 75% time) for 8 weeks - Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled work hours.
