OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Background

In the framework of the implementation of the Culture Sector communication and outreach activities, under the overall authority of the Chief of the Communications, Cities and Events Unit (CCE), and the direct supervision of the programme specialist in charge of communication the incumbent shall provide communication and outreach content, particularly for social media and webpages, for the Culture Sector programme.

More specifically, the individual specialist shall: 

 

  • Produce content in English and French in the appropriate format for social media (scripts, messages, videos, GIFs, etc.) to be disseminated on UNESCO's main social media account, including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook; ensure the format and content of the articles respect the corporate image and format required by UNESCO, ensure the planning, programming and distribution of social media content in conformity with UNESCO's policy, develop key messages and narratives for stories and news, for Culture Sector campaigns, initiatives and programmes;

 

  • Contribute to the development, coordination and monitoring of Culture Sector webpages including updates, web news, language harmonization, and design improvements;

 

  • Research and analyze success of communication materials and outreach (website visits, social media pick-up, community development etc.) and trends, and prepare reports including statistics;

 

  • Participate in relevant strategic meetings for the enhancement of the Culture Sector communication and social media outreach.

Fees

Conforming to UNESCO rules and procedures and aligned with the qualifications required, the remuneration is 2300 euros per month.

Education

 

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the field of Communication, International Affairs, Cultural Policy or similar.

 

Work Experience

 

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience in the field of communication, community engagement and/or advocacy, international relations or the creative economy of cultural heritage or cultural policy, preferably in a United Nations or intergovernmental organization.
  • Work experience with ITC, social media platforms, communication materials, websites.

 

Languages

 

  • Excellent knowledge of English or French and good knowledge of the other working language.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Competencies

 

  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Rush, Spark, Wibbitz, Microsoft Office, Excel, iMovie, Hootsuite, Drupal.
  • Strong social media and video production skills.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in design (eg. publication covers and layout, website graphic charter, newsletter).
  • Research and analysis skills.

 

Languages

  • Good knowledge of Spanish.
