International Rescue Committee, Inc. (IRC) and Local Initiatives Support Corporation are seeking a full-time
AmeriCorps member to serve as a Job Readiness Coordinator. We are recruiting a full-time AmeriCorps
member to be a part of our team for 10 months. The position will remain open until filled. The exact start and
end date of the contract position is confirmed by the Member Agreement of Participation that will require
signature prior to the start of service. This is an AmeriCorps position and the individual selected to serve is not
considered to be an employee of International Rescue Committee, Inc. or LISC.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN AMERICORPS MEMBER
This is an AmeriCorps position and as such, the member may not engage in prohibited activities as part of
his/her/their service. The member will have an immediate supervisor at International Rescue Committee, Inc.
and a LISC point of contact throughout the term of service for coaching, mentoring, and training support in
order to undertake activities to achieve a community goal.

The member is expected to undertake the following activities toward goal achievement:
The Job Readiness Coordinator will support IRC’s Connect2Work program and IRC’s Job Training and
Application Lab (JTAL). Connect2Work programs, which are part of the wider IRC Center for Financial
Opportunity (CFO), to help clients prepare to enter or move up in the workforce. This will specifically entail:
 Supporting youth and young adults through providing job readiness training, foundational skills training,
individualized case management, education and employment placement services, supportive services,
and paid internship opportunities in East County.
 Providing foundational skills instruction to clients, which are necessary to be successful in the
workforce.
 Supporting clients to complete IRC’s bridge program, which helps prepare clients to enhance their skills
through vocational and technical training programs and employment, in order to secure higher-wage
employment opportunities.
 Leading the coordination and facilitation of job readiness activities, such as resume preparation, digital
literacy, job search, and job application submission through recruitment and supervision of JTAL
volunteers.
In performing these activities, International Rescue Committee, Inc. and LISC AmeriCorps anticipate that the
person in this position will achieve the following goal(s):
 Provide 120 clients with employment/ job training skills where 75 clients will secure employment – or
secure better employment – as a result of the aforementioned activities
In order to meet the goal(s), the successful candidate will be provided with a work-plan at the onset of service
and training needed to achieve the goal(s). Progress toward goal attainment will be measured monthly through
an on-line system and raining will be provided.
