OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The World Health Organization's Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research (SRH) includes theUNDP-UNFPA-UNICEF-WHO-World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP). HRP is the main instrument within the United Nations system for identifying research priorities on sexual and reproductive health and rights; for promoting, conducting, evaluating and coordinating related interdisciplinary research; for collaborating with countries to build national capacity to conduct research; and for promoting the use of research results in policy making and sexual and reproductive health programmes. The Department draws on research and global expertise to set norms and standards and develop global guidelines on sexual and reproductive health and rights. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
(1) Lead the Department's research and normative work on gender equality for implementation of the WHO 13thGlobal Programme of Work and the Reproductive Health Strategy, as well as the 2020 HRP Theory of Change. (2) Lead a consultative process to develop and implement a research agenda for HRP in the area of gender equality and SRH, and provide strategic advice on the application of gender equality principles in the development of research and programme priorities and strategies. (3) Provide technical advice to Member States and UN agencies on the implementation of approaches that promote gender equality for the achievement of sexual and reproductive health. (4) Guide countries, as well as WHO Regional and Country Offices, on the use of gender analysis of policies as well as the development of appropriate laws, policies and guidelines in support of gender equality for sexual and reproductive health and rights. (5) Lead policy development, advice and guidance on integration of gender equality principles and practices in policies and programmes for achieving sexual and reproductive health and rights in health emergencies. (6) Liaise with Member States and UN partners in support of the effective implementation and monitoring of international treaties relevant to gender equality in sexual and reproductive health, and their integration into national legislation, policies and programmes. (7) Co-lead the organization of the HRP Gender and Rights Advisory Panel (GAP). Facilitate and support an annual assessment by GAP of the extent to which HRP's work is conducted in ways that respect and reflect gender equality. (8) Perform other relatedduties as assigned.
Essential: Advanced university degree in social sciences, gender studies, public health, or a related field.
Essential: At least 10 years' experience in gender equality and sexual and reproductive health, including at the international level and in low- or middle-income countries. Experience in gender equality policy analysis and development and in global consensus development processes.Experience in gender equality programme development and implementation. Demonstrated experience at the international level.
Expert knowledge of gender equality and sexual and reproductive health.Strong interpersonal skills.Excellent presentation and English-language writing skills.Strong research and analytical skills as evidenced by a considerable record of publication in peer-review journals

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 88,162 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 6524 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
